Tonight (13 January) marks the start of the second nationwide Citizens' Assembly with people drawn by lot from all over Germany: During ten online events between now and 20 February, the 160 citizens drawn by lot will draw up recommendations on how the Federal Republic should act on the global political stage in the future.

On 13 January 2021, the Citizens' Assembly "Germany's Role in the World" will be launched under the patronage of Bundestag President Wolfgang Schäuble. Journalists can observe the sessions online.

Next year, 160 people drawn at random from all over the country will discuss "Germany's role in the world" in a Citizens' Assembly under the patronage of Bundestag President Wolfgang Schäuble. The individual topics to be discussed at the Citizens' Assembly have now been determined.

The second nationwide, randomly-selected citizens' assembly will take place completely online, with the topic "Germany's role in the world".

A workshop with participants from political circles, ministries, and civil society organisations on the topic of "Germany's role in the world" will conclude the preparatory phase of the second nationwide citizens' assembly next Tuesday (10 November).

Starting today, 93 randomly selected citizens from four cities will help prepare a nationwide citizens' assembly. Each person selected will take part in one of four online discussion groups of the Citizens' Assembly "Germany's Role in the World".
